Schedule Anything

I'm enrolled in a technical writing class this semester, and as a part of our curriculum we have been assigned a research paper. Our research paper must cover a topic that pertains to our personal discipline in the engineering field; mine of which is chemical engineering. The paper needs to be about a general problem for which we propose a solution to. I've been searching for topics on which there is a wealth of information to research, but haven't come up with anything substantial yet. I don't care if you are a chemical, mechanical, electrical engineer, etc. or even an engineer at all. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
