Gianluigi Buffon has beaten Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to follow Samuel Eto'o as the winner of an individual award for players over 28 years old. The 38-year-old beat Ronaldo and eight other nominees for the 2016 Golden Foot Valencia fodboldtrøjer award. The Juventus goalkeeper finished ahead of the Portuguese in a tight voting for the top two spots, as reported by AS. The Golden Foot award is for players over 28 years old, who are still active, and Buffon became the fourth Italian to win the prize. It was previously lifted by Italian legends Roberto Baggio (2003), Alessandro Del Piero (2007) and Francesco Totti (2010). The other previous winners were Eto'o (2015), Andres Iniesta (2014), Didier Drogba Chelsea fodboldtrøjer (2013), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (2012), Ryan Giggs (2011), Ronaldinho (2009), Roberto Carlos (2008), Ronaldo de Lima (2006), Andriy Shevchenko (2005) and Pavel Nedved (2004). Iker Casillas, Kaka, and Wayne Rooney were among the other nominees for the 2016 version.
